Mr. Randy B. Lewis, 71, of Rockingham passed away Sunday, October 22, 2017 at Hospice Haven. He was born September 16, 1946 in Mullins, SC, son of the late George Haywood Lewis and Myrtle Sellers Lewis.
Mr. Lewis started his career in 1967 as a South Carolina Highway Patrolman, and then was an automobile mechanics instructor at Bishopville High School, and in 1980 started work with CSX Transportation as a machinist, retiring in 2000. He was a member of the Bishopville Masonic Lodge.
Funeral services with Masonic Rites will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 26th in the chapel of Watson – King Funeral Home in Rockingham with Rev. Larry Frye officiating and entombment to follow in the mausoleum of Richmond Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 pm at Watson – King Funeral Home.
Mr. Lewis is survived by his wife, Janice Deese Lewis; children, Chip (Nancy) Lewis, Chad (Penny) Lewis, and Chet (Stephanie) Lewis, all of Charleston, SC, and Ken Thayer of Rockingham; ten grandchildren, Seleste Lewis, Meghan Burmester, Mark (Carmen) Thayer, Mason (Sara) McGowen, Stormy McGowen, Matt Bryant, Hailey Lewis, James Lewis, Colin Lewis, Alex Mason-Clifton; six great grandchildren; a brother, James (Jane) Lewis of Pinehurst; and a sister, Linda Kay (Robert) Edwards, of Union, SC.
Heartfelt thanks go to Fran Parkerson, Hazel Spivey, Tim and Beverly Durden for their care and compassion during Randy's illness.
