Patricia Edwards Watson

August 4, 1939 ~ March 11, 2017 (age 77) 77 Years Old

Mrs. Patricia Edwards Watson,  77, passed away Saturday,  March  11,  2017 at Hospice Haven.  She was born August 4,  1939 in Forsyth County,  daughter of the late P.W. and Elma  Edwards.

Mrs. Watson was a member of Temple Baptist Church where she attended for many years.  As an independent business owner, she took great pleasure in operating different businesses over the years.  One of her most memorable was an antique store, “Hidden Treasures”, in Ellerbe.  Music was a passion of Mrs. Watson.  Not only did she pass on her love of music to those she had the pleasure of teaching, but she enjoyed performing in the "Yesteryears Band" as well as the "Country Spice Band".  She was always very active and even found time to learn to fly an airplane.  However, none of these activities ever took precedent over her family and friends.  She loved it when people came to visit; she could sit for hours talking and reminiscing over a cup of coffee.  There was a special enjoyment in traveling to visit her family and friends, especially her family in Michigan.

The family had visitation to see friends on Friday evening from 6 to 8 pm at Watson-King Funeral Home in Rockingham.  Services were conducted at 1:00 pm Saturday, March 18th at Temple Baptist Church in Rockingham with Rev. Joey Byrd officiating and interment following in Ellerbe Cemetery.

Mrs. Watson is survived by a daughter , Linda Yaklin Byrd and husband, Rev. Joey Byrd of Rockingham; sons, Chris Yaklin and wife Amy of Ellerbe,  Greg Yaklin and wife Shelleye of West Olive, MI, Sonny Watson and wife Corinne of Rockingham,  and Michael Watson of Rockingham; and many beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Watson, a son, Steve Yaklin and a sister, Peggy Bailey.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Haven of Rockingham, 1119 Hwy 1 N., Rockingham,  NC  28379.
