William “Roy” Moss, Sr. 93, of Rockingham passed away Sunday, September 12 2021 at his home. He was born June 11, 1928, a son of the late Thomas Kenan and Aleene Kissiah Moss.
He was a founding member and Deacon of Freedom Baptist Church. He served in the US Navy during WWII. He worked as an electrician in Hamlet for the CSX Railroad for 35 years, retiring in 1990. He and his wife, the late Jean Smith Moss, enjoyed their retirement years traveling and spending time with gran and great grandchildren. Mr. Moss was a devoted and beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 am Thursday, September 16, 2021 at Freedom Baptist Church with Rev. Ronnie McLean and Pastor Dan Main officiating. Burial will follow at Richmond Co. Memorial Park with military honors. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5-7 pm at Watson-King Funeral Home in Rockingham.

Surviving, His children, Lynn Allen and husband Joe of Orlando, FL, William Leroy Moss, Jr. and Lisa Moss Nicoletti and husband Steve, all of Rockingham; Grandchildren, Jennifer Allen Yanowitz and husband Zev of Winter Springs, FL, Amanda Allen Collins and husband Nolan of Astoria, NY, Steven Nicoletti of Wake Forrest, NC, Kristie Nicoletti Hughes and husband Brandon all of Rockingham; Great grandchildren, Garrett Hughes, Gavin Hughes, Gunner Hughes, Karson Yanowitz and Willamina Yanowitz; Three brothers, Henry Moss of Rockingham, Bill Moss of Shalotte and Bobby Moss of Snead’s Ferry; Three sisters, Judy Tarleton of Cheraw, SC, Dot Hatley of Fort Mill, SC and Nancy Teal of Chesterfield,SC.
