Virginia Morgan Thompson

Virginia Morgan Thompson,93, of Rockingham passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at Hermitage Retirement Center. She was born on September 4, 1924 in Richmond County, a daughter of the late James Benjamin and Essie Bell Thompson Morgan.

Mrs. Thompson retired from Richmond County Council on Aging and enjoyed spending time at the Rockingham and East Rockingham Seniors Centers. Virginia was a member of Sweet Haven Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jack Thompson, a son Lawrence Wayne Thompson and grandson Bobby Thompson.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, May 26, 2018 at 3:00 P.M. at Watson-King Funeral Home Chapel in Rockingham with Rev. Mitchell Roller and Rev. Chuck McKnight officiating. Burial will follow at Northam Cemetery Extension.

Surviving her sons, Gary Thompson and Steve Thompson both of Rockingham and Phillip Thompson of Thailand; Grandchildren, Sherry Thompson, Phillip Thompson, Jr. (Elena), Cristi Tillis(Todd), Melinda Thompson, Eric Thompson(Jennifer), Anna Hopkins(Jarod), Amanda Schumacher(Adam) and Cory Thompson(Kay); 21 great grandchildren; Brother, Fairley George Morgan; Daughter-in-law, Terry Thompson.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 2-3 PM prior the service at the funeral home and at other times at the home of granddaughter Sherry Thompson, 505 N. Randolph St. Rockingham.
