Victoria Elise Weaver

February 9, 1919 ~ July 9, 2018 (age 99)
Victoria Elise Troutman Weaver, 99, of Aberdeen, N.C. passed away peacefully in her sleep Monday, July 9, 2018. She was born February 25, 1919 in Addor, N.C., to the late Albert Preston and Grace Fortune Troutman.

In addition to her parents, Victoria was preceded in death by; her husband, Marvin S. Weaver, Jr., her son Michael H. Weaver, brothers Dwight, Albert, Baxter, Howard, Paul, Drewry, Belk, and sister Ina Troutman.
She is survived by her sons Marvin Weaver III (Ann), Maurice Weaver (Linda), five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.

She was a 1936 graduate of Aberdeen High School, the first to reserve her attendance at the 2015 Aberdeen High School All Classes Reunion, where she was the oldest alumnus present. Victoria attended Queens College. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Aberdeen.

Victoria was fiercely independent. She was a superb gardener, an excellent seamstress, and harvested long leaf pine straw. She raised chickens and goats, and operated a small mobile home park. She annually harvested large quantities of blue berries from her brother Drewry’s farm, giving some to family and selling some. She supplied fresh vegetables to area restaurants. She had been employed by a number of local businesses.

Granny Weaver’s grandchildren were not blessed with a “cookies and milk” sort of grandmother. Rather, their grandmother swam in ponds with them and shot the heads from snakes with a .22 caliber rifle.
She compiled and published a history of and for her family, successfully learning to use word processing on a personal computer in her mid-eighties. She delighted in telling stories of her life growing up on a Moore County farm near Addor.

Her family and community will miss her wit, her memories, and that charming smile.
Special thanks to her care givers and family of the heart; Penny, Jane, and Cassie, whose loving care enabled Victoria to live at home for a number of years.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
