Sarah Cook Kelly,95, of Hamlet passed away Wednesday, July 19, 2017. She was born December 15, 1921 in Pekin. She was the daughter of the late William Arnold and Miranda Thompson Cook.
She was preceded in death by her husband James W. Kelly, son-in-law Charlie T. Knight, brothers Lonnie Cook, William R. Cook, Cecil Cook, Charlie Cook and a sister Mamie Cook Chandler.
Mrs. Sarah made the most of her many talents by developing them to their greatest potential. Quilting and cooking were her favorites. She was often referred to as the “Cake Lady”.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, July 21 at Watson-King Funeral Home in Hamlet at 10:00 A.M. with Reverend Jason Lutz and Reverend Doug Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Richmond County Memorial Park. The family will greet friends after the service at Watson-King Funeral Home.
Mrs. Kelly is survived by her daughters, Nancy K, Knight, Carol K. Turner (Oliver), Hallie K. Hatfield (Jackie) all of Hamlet; Grandchildren, Angela Turner of Hamlet, Melissa Turner of Myrtle Beach, Melanie Knight Carnes (Rick) of Ellerbe, April Knight Green of Sanford, Amy Knight Williams (Dwayne) of Rockingham, Brian Turner (Allison) Virginia Beach, VA and Shara Parada (Andy) Arizona; Great grands Anna Belle Parada, Olivia Turner, Connor Green, Noah Turner, and Wyles Parada.
She is also survived by her precious sister Cozette Rush of Ellerbe and sister-in-law Genevra B. Kelly of Rockingham.
She was a member of Cartledge Creek Baptist Church and adored and loved her church family.
