Mr. Samuel T. Nance, 95, of Rockingham passed away Saturday, April 21, 2018 at his home. He was born June 5, 1922 in Davidson County, son of the late Kate and Grover Nance.
Mr. Nance was a member of First United Methodist Church in Rockingham, was active in all aspects of the church and drove the church bus for many years. He was employed in the wholesale candy business. Mr. Nance was involved for over fifteen years with the Rockingham Soup Kitchen and Homeless Shelter. He was a veteran, serving in the U. S. Army during World War II. He enjoyed golf in his spare time.
Services were conducted 2:00 pm Monday, April 23rd at First United Methodist Church in Rockingham with Rev. Allen Bingham officiating. The family had visitation to see friends one hour prior to the service at the church and other times at the home.
Mr. Nance is survived by his wife of seventy six years, Ava Nance; daughters, Sena Allen of Wilmington, Sandra (Parker) Moffitt of Charlotte, and Robin (Lindy) Fann of Pinebluff; grandchildren, Katherine Nance Allen, Daniel Griggs, Jr., Sena Brandt Preziosi, David Warren Allen, Jr., Lindsay Scoggins, Chris (Han Mi) Fann, Mindy (Glenn Allen) Fann, and Shannon (Robert) Bullion; great grandchildren, Tripp, Samuel, Sophie , Andre, Sela, Tyler, Sage, Madison, Hayden, Phoenix, Cadence and McKenna; and a sister, Becky Moore of Lillington. Mr. Nance was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.
