Ruby Lee Smith

Mrs. Ruby Lee Smith, 94, passed away Friday, November 23, 2018 at First Health Richmond Memorial Hospital in Rockingham. She was born April 9, 1924 in Richmond County, daughter of the late Ella and James Manley Reynolds.

Mrs. Smith was a member of Freedom Baptist Church. Through the years, she enjoyed teaching Sunday School and working with the children. Mrs. Smith worked in sales, retiring with the J. C. Penney Co. She loved to work in her garden.

Services were conducted 2:00 pm Monday, November 26th in the chapel of Watson – King Funeral Home in Rockingham with Rev. Ronnie McLean officiating and interment followed at Richmond Memorial Park.

The family had visitation to see friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home, starting at 1:00 pm.

Mrs. Smith is survived by a daughter, Karen Jackson and husband Doug of Roanoke, VA; a son, Gilbert Lee Smith of Georgia; three grandchildren, Brandon Todd, Darren Todd, and Elizabeth Smith. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Monroe Smith in 2004; and a son, David Smith Curtis in 2002.
