Richard E. Hinson,72, of Rockingham, passed away surrounded by his loving family, Monday, October 30th, 2023. Richard was born May 1st, 1951, in Alexandria, Virginia. He was a son of the late Lonnie and Lessie Hinson. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother Larry Hinson.
Richard graduated from Rohanen High School in 1969, there after he would go on to dutifully serve his country during the Vietnam War. Upon returning from the frontlines, Richard pursued a higher education at Richmond Community College where he graduated with his associate degree. Richard worked hard for many years as a Life Insurance Agent for American Fidelity Life. Outside of work, Richard loved the sport of baseball. His favorite team was the Chicago Cubs.
Richard leaves behind his wife Linda Sinclair Hinson, of the home; Children Penney Chavis and Bryan Hinson; and granddaughter Ariel Chavis. Richard also leaves behind his two dogs Sophie and Lily “Peanut” and many friends, all of whom will miss him dearly.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made out to either Richmond County Hospice at 1119 N. US 1, Rockingham, NC 28379 or to Veteran Affairs at 508 Fulton St, Durham, NC 27705.
