Philip Eugene McNair

Philip Eugene “Phil” McNair, 72, of Rockingham went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at his home. Phil is the son of Eugene McNair and the late Esther Gibson McNair, born on March 21st, 1950 in Richmond County.

Phil graduated from Rockingham High School and Wingate College where he received his Associate’s Degree. He also served in the National Guard for six years. With the experience he gained from a career in sales, Phil went on to start his pride and joy: McNair Auto Sales. It was there he proudly served his local community unti his retirement.

When Phil wasn’t focused on his career, he was undoubtedly a family man. Phil loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren. He loved traveling to new sights and adventures with his family in tow. Specifically, Phil adored being at the beach any time he could. Phil was a member of Freedom Baptist Church and he loved his church family.

Phil is survived by his wife of 51 years, Barbara McNair of the home; father Rev. Eugene McNair of Rockingham, NC; children Ryan McNair (Anna) of Apex, NC, Jan Scholl (Bill) of West End, NC and Trey McNair (Erin) of Rockingham, NC; grandchildren Cameron Scholl, Connor Scholl, Nora McNair and Melody McNair: Siblings, Gary McNair (Marsha) of Louisburg, NC and Mitch McNair (Becky) of Lexington, SC.
The family will receive family and friends Saturday March 11th, 2023 from 12:30 P.M. to 1:45 P.M. at Freedom Baptist Church in Rockingham. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Ronnie McLean officiating.
