Peggy Long Gibson Collins, 84, of Rockingham passed away Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at her home. She was born May 16, 1936 in Richmond County, a daughter of the late Martin M. and Ruth Thrower Long.
Mrs. Collins was a member of Ledbetter United Methodist Church. She graduated from High Point Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1954. She worked at Richmond Memorial Hospital, Moore Regional Hospital, McCain TB Sanatorium, Cameron Morrison Prison and Richmond Co. Health Dept.
She was preceded in death by her first husband Elwin S. Gibson in 2001 and granddaughter Carlie Voss.
A graveside service will be conducted Saturday, January 2, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at Richmond Co. Memorial Park with Rev. Lee Griffith and Rev. Terry Cornelius officiating. Due to COVID-19 Please wear mask and continue to social distancing.
Surviving her husband, Frank Collins of Rockingham: Her children, John Martin Gibson and Donna Kay Gibson; Stepson, Bryant Voss and wife Pam; Grandchildren, Meghan Gibson and Erin Gibson; Brothers, Marley Long and MC Long: Special nephew Chris Long and wife Kathy; Step grandchildren, Christopher Newson, Cody Voss and Cailyn Chadwick.
A public viewing will be Thursday, December 31, 2020 from 12:30-4:00 P.M. at Watson-King Funeral Home in Rockingham. The family will not be present and a limited number of people in the building at a time.
