Patrick “Pat” Kay Moss, 58, of Rockingham went to his heavenly home on May 11, 2023.
Pat was the beloved and devoted husband of Sonya Thompson Moss, father of Troy Moss, Trevor Moss, and Brooke Bryant. Pat was the son of Rudy Bryan Moss and the late Mitchell Wayne Moss, and his sister, Jamie Moss-Godfrey, and her son, Cooper Godfrey. Pat was the proud grandfather of Liliana Grace, who he adored, loved, treasured and was his world as well as grandfather to Ayden, Alex, and Natalie. Pat is also survived by aunts and uncles, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Pat grew up in Rockingham where he attended Temple Christian School, graduating in 1982. Pat earned an associate degree in business from Richmond Community College. Pat worked with Jack’s Block and Brick as well as Johnson Concrete for many years before becoming the owner of Moss Brick and Stone nearly 15 years ago.
Pat was loving and generous of spirit, loved life and the people in his life more than anything. If you knew Pat, you knew him to always have a smile on his face. Pat loved his family with such zeal and was completely committed to his children and their interests. Pat was a humble man, and very kind, loving, fair, and giving. Pat always looked for the positive in any situation. Pat was an avid fan of sports, but especially loved little league soccer. Along with little league, Pat loved coaching his competitive travel soccer team. Pat was an outdoorsman, and enjoyed fishing anytime he had the chance. Pat was also a brilliant storyteller, and his family and friends enjoyed his many tales.
Pat had an amazing gift for caring for and connecting with children. Pat enjoyed working with children, and spent much of his time coaching soccer, t-ball, basketball, and baseball. Pat loved all the kids he coached, and treated each as if they were his own.
Pat loved God and his church family at Southside Freewill Baptist Church. Pat and his family began attending Southside after being invited by the late Pastor Ricky Jacobs.
The family will receive friends at Watson-King Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., and a celebration of Pat’s life will take place on Thursday, May 18, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Southside Freewill Baptist Church in Ellerbe. Pat will be laid to rest at Eastside Cemetery.
