Metta Moore Hull

Metta Moore Hull, 84, passed away on May 9, 2018. Metta was born in Erwin, TN on July 13, 1933. After high school graduation, she attended Appalachian State Teacher’s College (now Appalachian State University) graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in teaching. She later earned her Master’s Degree in Mathematics from the University of South Carolina. She taught mathematics and physics for over forty years at both Ellerbe High School and Richmond Community College.

Metta is survived by her husband, Elbert Lee Hull, Jr.; her sons, John Covington (James Beall) of Charlotte and Neil Covington (Jean) of Cary; stepson, Edward A. Hull (Mandy) of Raleigh, stepdaughter, Ann Hull Fagan (Tim) of Charlotte; two grandchildren, Julian and Annika Covington of Louisville, Nebraska. Also her sisters, Nancy Myers (Belton) of Shallotte and Barbara Kelly (Edward) of Cape Coral, FL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Calvin Moore and Elizabeth Hynson Moore; her sons, Charles Bennett Covington and David Eugene Covington; and her brother, Charles Calvin Moore, Jr.

The Visitation for Metta will be held May 19, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. at the Penick Village Chapel in Southern Pines followed by Funeral Service at 11:00. Interment will be at 2:30 p.m. at the Church of the Messiah in Rockingham.
