Mr. Melvin Garrett Gibson, Jr., 69, of Rockingham passed away Wednesday, September 19, 2018. He was born August 20, 1949 in Richmond County, son of the late Melvin and Elizabeth Tucker Gibson.
Mr. Gibson was a mechanic and retired from CSX Railroad. He was a veteran, serving in the U. S. Army in Vietnam. He enjoyed sports, especially NASCAR, Richmond Raider Football, and fishing. Mr. Gibson loved his children and grandchildren and was active in supporting the activities they were engaged in.
Services were conducted 2:00 pm Saturday, September 22nd in the chapel of Watson – King Funeral Home in Hamlet with Rev. James Croke officiating and interment with military honors followed at Richmond Memorial Park. The family had visitation one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Gibson is survived by his children, Bryan Gibson of Rockingham and Felisia Gulledge and husband Mark of Hamlet; two grandchildren, Addison Randall Goodwin Gibson and Carley Marie Gulledge; a great grandchild, Noah Bruce Gibson; and siblings, Nancy (John) Brinkley, Debbie Morris, Mary Ellen Haywood, and Darrell (Elaine) Gibson.
