Mary Whitley

Mrs. Mary Hinson Whitley, 74, passed away Monday, August 6, 2018 at Reid Heart Center in Pinehurst. She was born June 29, 1944 in Richmond County, daughter of the late Bernie and Shadie Parker Hinson.

Mrs. Whitley was the Office Manager with Whitley Construction Company. She was a Realtor and managed Whitley Realty Company. Mrs. Whitley was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in her early years and, after marriage, attended Church of God of Prophecy in Rockingham. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother.

Services were conducted 3:00 pm Saturday, August 11th at the Church of God of Prophecy at 139 Flowers Street in Rockingham with Rev. Steve Gilmer and Rev. Frank McQuage officiating with interment following at Richmond Memorial Park. The family saw friends prior to the service at the church from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm and at other times at the home of Sammy Whitley, 115 Pineview Court. Rockingham.

Mrs. Whitley is survived by her husband Sammy Whitley; two children, Sherry (Johnny) Byrd and Keith Whitley, all of Rockingham; five grandchildren, Lauren Benton, Whitney Franco, Dustin Whitley, Kyle Byrd, and Payton Whitley; six great grandchildren, Miley Benton, Brooklyn Whitley, Jett Whitley, Wesson Byrd, Wyatt Byrd, and Bodhi Franco; a sister, Tossie (Jack) Zeigler; and sister in laws, Elaine Hinson, Judy Hinson, and Billie Jean Hinson. Mrs. Whitley was preceded in death by siblings, David Hinson, Paul Hinson, Lois Shaffer, James Hinson, and Neil Hinson.
