Marshall Hurst

Marshall E Hurst, 89, of Hamlet, NC passed away Saturday, June 2nd. Marshall was born January 3rd, 1929 in Toxey, Alabama. Marshall was eager to serve his country and joined the Marine Corps before he was actually eligible. He proudly served for 30 years and retired as a Gunnery Sgt. He then went on to work with CSX and retired from the railroad after 20 years. In his retirement he took great pride in his farming and providing produce to friends and family. He also enjoyed fishing at his pond with his grandkids and great grandkids.

Marshall is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Judy Hurst. Marshall is survived by his daughter, Lyn Hurst of High Point; granddaughter, Blaire Romines and husband Jason Romines of Raleigh; grandson, Charlie Lancaster and wife Brittany Lancaster of High Point; great grandson Cooper Romines of Raleigh, great granddaughter Stella Lancaster of High Point, and great grandson Wells Lancaster of High Point.

The family received friends prior to the service on Friday, June 8th from 10:00-11:00 at the First Baptist Church of Hamlet. Funeral services with Masonic rites were conducted at 11:00 with Dr. Allison Farrah officiating and interment followed in the Mary Love Cemetery with full military honors.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Marshall’s memory to the First Baptist Church of Hamlet, 208 Charlotte Street Hamlet, NC 28345.
