John Mark Gardner, 54, of Rockingham, passed away Saturday, Feb. 17, 2018, at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill. He was born June 11, 1963, in Richmond County, son of Larry and Grace Baldwin Gardner.

Mark was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church. He was an insurance agent with Kemper Insurance and was the owner of MG Cleaning. Mark loved to play his guitar, had a huge network of friends, and enjoyed sports, especially football, golf, and shooting pool. His world revolved around his children, Hannah and Justin.

Funeral services were conducted 3 p.m., Friday, Feb. 23 at Pine Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Wayne Tuttle and the Rev. Carl Moree officiating and interment following at Richmond Memorial Park. The family received friends Thursday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. at the church and other times at the Gardner home, 1302 US Hwy 1 N., Rockingham.

Mark is survived by a daughter, Hannah Pack and husband Steven of Fort Dix, New Jersey; a son, Justin Gardner of Rockingham; parents, Larry and Grace Gardner of Rockingham; and a brother, Kevin Gardner and wife Karen of Indian Trail.
