Eleanor Williams

Eleanor Williams, 84, of Hamlet went to be with her Lord on Monday, October 30, 2023 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst. She was born May 4, 1939 in Richmond County, a daughter of David and Margaret Brooks Reaves.

She is a graduate of the Hamlet Hospital School of Nursing and Wingate University, where she earned her BSN. She is a retired operating room nurse from Sandhills Regional Medical Center. She attended Hamlet First Baptist Church. She enjoyed lifelong hobbies of reading, ceramics, cross stitching and sewing.

She was preceded in death by her parents David and Margaret Reaves, her stepfather Paul Averitte, husband Herman Adam Williams, Sr., a grandson, Tyler Adams Williams and sisters Betty Cox and Myrna Reaves and a stepbrother, Bill Averitte.

A graveside service will be conducted Thursday, November 2, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. at Richmond Co. Memorial Park Mausoleum with Dr. Allison Farrah and David Fore officiating. The family will receive friends after the service.

Surviving are her children, Herman Adam Williams, Jr. and wife Judy, Michael David Williams and Margaret Catherine Williams, all of Hamlet; Grandchildren, Alexandria N.. Merriett (Mason) and Noah Thomas Williams; Great grandchildren, Amelia Clarke Merriett, Nova Saige Merriett and Kaleb Adam Williams; Step grandchildren, Olivia Nawell Merriett and Brady Allen Merriett; Sisters, Sandy Hancock and husband John; Nancy Nobles and husband Sam; Sister-in-law, Nancy Little Averitte.
