Mabel Mauldin Watson

Mabel Mauldin Watson, 81, of Rockingham, passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at FirstHealth Richmond Memorial Hospital. She was born June 13, 1937 in Scotland County a daughter of the late Harrison and Josie Taylor Mauldin.

Mrs. Watson was preceded in death by her husband, Edward, “Ed” Watson. She attended Sweet Haven Church and was co-owner and operator of Watson’s Exxon & TBA of Hoffman and Hamlet. She loved to cook and bake cakes for her family, friends and church events.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, February 1, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. at Sweet Haven Church with Rev. Mitchell Roller officiating. Burial will follow at Northam Cemetery Extension.

Surviving are three daughters, Cindy Watson Spratt (Stowe) of Monroe, Loria Watson Dawkins (Phil) of Rockingham and Debbie Watson Blake (Ronnie) of Rockingham; six grandchildren, Joshua Spratt, Jason Dawkins (Beth), Jarrod Dawkins (Tara), Robbie Blake (Brandi), Eddie Shelley (Sabrina) and Kelli Franklin (Steve); ten great grandchildren, Laney, Logan and Luke Dawkins, Jentry and Ledger Dawkins, Paisley, Emberly and Myah Blake, Tillery and Gatlin Franklin.

The family would like to take this time to thank the staff of PruittHealth Care where Mrs. Watson has been a resident for the last 3 years.

The family will receive friends Friday, February 1, 2019 from 12-2:00 P.M. prior to the service at the church and other times at the home of daughter Loria Dawkins, 119 Rocky Hill Circle, Rockingham.
