Born on November 12, 1923 to the late Raymond and Doshia Hancock, in Rockingham, NC, Mabel Hancock Cashion died on November 3, 2017 at Universal Health Care in Brunswick County, NC.

She was proceeded in death by her husband of sixty-three years, J. Lee Cashion, sister Edna H. Greer and brothers Ray and Leon Hancock.

Mabel was a remarkable woman. She taught herself to play the piano and in later years, took piano lessons so that she could read music. She sewed clothing for her three daughters and was an outstanding cook and baker. She also loved gardening and canning and freezing her produce. Most of all, she was a loving wife and mother.

She is survived by three daughters: Mary Lee Carlson and husband Richard of Oak Island, Sissy Shortridge of Oak Island, and Judy Shoffner and husband Mitch of Rockingham. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Paige Guilzon, Robbie Rhyne, Virginia Davenport and Stephanie Shoffner, as well as three great-grandsons and many friends.

There will be a graveside service at Marks Creek Presbyterian Church in Hamlet, NC on Sunday, November 12th at 2:00 PM officiated by Reverend Ken Goins.
