Lonnie H. Jackson, Jr., 83, of Rockingham passed away Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at FirstHealth Hospice House in Pinehurst. He was born December 8, 1938 in Guilford County a son of the late Lonnie H. Jackson, Sr. and Ruby Allred Jackson.

He was preceded in death by his wife Shirley Russell Jackson in 2019.

Mr. Jackson served his country in the US Air Force. Lonnie worked at Long’s Clothing Store and was the owner & Operator of Gaddy’s Clothing Store for 25 years. He retired from FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital. Lonnie loved traveling, gardening and the beach. He was a devoted family man and member of the community. Lonnie cared for others and regularly gave back to members of the community. In his retirement years, he made frequent trips to the mountains and the beach to search for new restaurants and watering holes. He supported his family as it branched into daughter-in-laws and grandchildren. Lonnie treated his puppy Missy like one of the family and they traveled together often. He will be deeply missed by all.

A graveside service will be conducted Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Green Lake United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Lee Griffith officiating.

Surviving, Sons, Lonnie Jackson, III and wife Michelle of Columbia, NC and Russell Jackson and wife Tammy of Vass; Grandchildren, Megan Jackson of Buies Creek, Olivia Jackson, Emily Jackson and Amanda Jackson of Amarillo, TX and Johnathan Williams of Columbia, NC; A sister Martha Stirewalt of High Point.

Memorials may be made to Green Lake United Methodist Church, Cemetery Fund, 215 Clearfield Rd. Rockingham, NC 28379.
