Mr. John Willis Tucker, Sr., 87, of Hoffman passed away Sunday, March 18, 2018 at Magnolia Gardens in Southern Pines. He was born March 21, 1930 in Scotland County, son of the late Martin and Lizzie Kluttz Tucker.
Mr. Tucker had been a life long member of Hoffman United Methodist Church and was currently a member of Jones Spring United Methodist Church, where he served, at both, in a number of capacities. He was retired from the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission with forty years of service, as a forestry technician and a wildlife technician. Mr. Tucker loved to hunt and fish, enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves and NASCAR racing.
A service to celebrate Mr. Tucker’s life will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 21st in the chapel of Watson – King Funeral Home in Rockingham with Rev. Dena White officiating. The family will see friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the Franklin home, 107 Bracey Street, Hoffman.
Mr. Tucker is survived by his wife of sixty seven years, Lorene Ussery Tucker; children, John Willis Tucker, Jr. of Seven Lakes, Karen (Donald) Carriker of Robbins, and Debbie Franklin of Hoffman; five grandchildren, Adam (Michele) Franklin, Zack Tucker, Jack (Allison ) Franklin, Hannah Carriker, and Heath Carriker; two great grandchildren, Tucker McKoy Franklin and Harper Lillian Franklin.
