James Jackson Diggs

    Mr. James Jackson (Jack ) Diggs went to his heavenly home on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at First Health, Richmond Memorial Hospital with his wife and family by his side.  Jack was born on January 19, 1933 to the late Henry and Marie Diggs. Jack faithfully served his country in the United States Air Force for fourteen years and subsequently the Federal Civil Service for an additional seventeen years. Jack married Joan Ormsby Diggs on September 26, 1959. They had fifty eight wonderful years of marriage.  During the years of Jack’s service to the Country, he and Joan lived in various places along the east coast.  Upon his retirement they moved back to their hometown, Rockingham.  Jack was a lifelong member of Cordova United Methodist Church.  His Christian faith was a cornerstone of his life.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents and his twin sister, Jerrie Dyson.  He is survived by his wife Joan Ormsby Diggs, as well as a sister Sue Cummings.  He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, friends and church family.  The visitation will be Tuesday, June 5th, 1 p.m. at Cordova United Methodist Church followed by the funeral at 2 p.m.  Dr. Allison Farrah and Rev. Ken Griswold will officiate the service.Burial will follow at Eastside Cemetery with Military Honors.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cordova United Methodist Church.
