Tribute

Mr. Irvin Hodges, 69, of Hamlet passed away Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at his home with his family by his side.

Irvin was born November 11, 1948 in Moore County, son of Luther and Ruth Hodges.

Irvin graduated high school and served two years in the U. S. Coast Guard in Alaska. He worked at Cascades, Inc., until he retired in 2016. After retirement, he enjoyed golfing and gardening.

Irvin was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Hodges.

He is survived by his wife of thirty eight years, Diane Carter Hodges; his father, Luther Hodges of Carthage; sons, Jason (April) Hodges of Anchorage, AK and Eric (Terra) Stimmel of Belle Plaine, KS; and special daughter, Missy Freeman of Rockingham; six grandchildren, Brandon Dennis and Tiffany Freeman, Rebecca Stimmel, Gabe Stimmel, Grayson and Tanner Stimmel; four great grandchildren, Riley and Braydon Freeman, Carter Fulp, and Barrett Dennis; and sisters, Jewell Stewart of Lexington and Dianne (Jimmy) Wood of Carthage.

We would like to offer special thanks to Richmond County Hospice. They have taken care of anything he needed. Special thanks to Kermit and Wendy Perkins. They made sure he got to Moore County every week until Hospice took over. The most very special thanks to our grandson, Brandon Dennis. He was “Pops” side kick from the very start. Nobody could have done a better job.

Irvin was cremated and there will be a memorial as soon as possible, as was his wishes.

Baby, you know I have loved you since the day we met. You have taken care of all of us better than any man on earth could do. We all miss you so much. It won’t be too long before we are together again. You know I LOVE YOU, “Boy.”

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Richmond County Hospice, 1119 US Hwy 1 N., Rockingham, NC 28379.
