Hector Phifer, 72 of Rockingham, passed away on Dec. 7th, 2018 after a lengthy battle with cancer.
He was a resident of both Rockingham and North Myrtle Beach communities. He was known for his witty humor, big heart, and his love for beach music and shagging. Wherever he went, he never met a stranger. He owned J.P. Phifer Construction Company. He was on the board of directors for the SOS Shag Club for 17 years.
He is survived by his loving wife of forty six years, Carolyn Phifer; his sons, Maurie Phifer of Raleigh, and Dean Mullis of Fort Myers, FL; his brother, Theron Miller of Myrtle Beach, SC; his sisters, Marilyn Stewart of New Bern and Claudia Shelley of Rockingham. He has many nieces and nephews, as well as multiple grandchildren and one great grandchild.
The family will greet friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m on Sunday, December 16th at Watson-King Funeral Home 306 E Franklin St., Rockingham, NC 28380.
