Gail Hatcher Skipper died peacefully at her home on Friday, July 29, 2022, in Rockingham, NC at the age of 75.
Gail was born on July 19, 1947 in Hamlet, North Carolina to Otis and Zietta Hatcher. She graduated from Rockingham High School in 1965. She attended business school in Columbia, South Carolina. She married Lamar Skipper of Hamlet, NC in 1970.
Gail attended beauty college in Hamlet and worked as a hairdresser for a few years at her own salon, Miss Angel Hair Fashions. Over the years, she worked various jobs spending many years at Abbott Laboratories in Laurinburg and lastly at Wal Mart of Rockingham before retiring due to her health. Her most impactful work in life was as a caring wife, loving mother, and adoring grandmother. The heart of the family was time spent around the kitchen table.
Gail is survived by her husband, Lamar, of 52 years. She is also survived by her children: Angel (Kevin) Mabe of Rockingham, NC, Tracy (Donna) Skipper of Rockingham, NC, and Crystal (JR) Cottle of Rockingham, NC. Surviving are her precious grandchildren whom she cherished: Evin and Justin Mabe, Kaitlyn, Lindsay, and Dylan Skipper, and Emma Forbis, Dean and Kenan Cottle. She was preceded in death by: her parents and her beloved daughter, Melissa Skipper Melgarejo.
The family will receive friends and family on Wednesday, August 3rd from 12:00-2:00pm at Watson-King Funeral Home in Hamlet, NC and at other times at the home. The funeral will be at 2:00pm immediately following visitation at Watson-King Funeral Home in Hamlet, NC.
