Ernestine Frye Dawkins

Ernestine Frye Dawkins, 89, of Rockingham died Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at Richmond County Hospice Haven.
She was born May 16, 1929 in Wentworth, NC to the late Henry Frye and Pearl Collins Frye. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, mother-in-law, aunt and friend.
Mrs. Dawkins was a member of Green Lake United Methodist Church all of her married adult life and was active in many ministries of the church including: choir, Methodist women, Sunday school and Bible schoolteacher, prayer warrior and visitor (with her husband) to the sick and shut-ins of the community.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: her husband Ned H. Dawkins, an infant son and brothers: Eldridge Frye and Henry Frye ("Junior").
Surviving her are her daughters, Lois Goodson and husband Bob of Conover, NC; Joy Austin of Rockingham, NC, Donna Stephen and husband Tony of Raleigh,NC, five grandchildren: Michelle Goodson Coviello and husband Chris (Bristow, VA), Vicki Morgan Melton and husband David (Rockingham, NC), Amber Goodson Guffey (Roan Mtn.,TN), Lisa Austin O'Neal and husband Matt (Rockingham, NC) and Steven Austin (Rockingham, NC); a great grand-daughter, Alexis Holland Melton; one sister, Jocelyn Frye Osorio (Pinehurst,NC), brothers: Paul D. Frye and James D. Frye (Rockingham, NC) and nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday September 1, 2018 at Green Lake United Methodist Church, 623 Green Lake Road, Rockingham, NC with Rev. William Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:00-2:45 p.m. on Saturday in the church fellowship hall.
