Ernest Lester Norton

Ernest Lester Norton, 83, husband of Peggy K. Norton, of 123 Mourning Dove Lane, Hamlet, went to be with the Lord, Friday, April 13, 2018 at his home.

He was the son of the late Archie Fairley Norton and Mae Quick Norton. He served as an Elder at Boyd Lake Church of Christ.

Mr. Norton served in the US Navy and retired from the Textile Industry. He loved his church family, was devoted to his family and had a smile for everyone he met. He was never happier than when he was working in his garden or feeding anyone who stopped by to visit.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Gladys Gibson Norton and his son Jerry Michael Norton.

In addition to his wife, Peggy, he is survived by his son Jeff Norton (Beverly) of Gaffney, SC, and a daughter Leslie Singletary (Jeff) of Oak Island, NC; step children: Tara Wilkes (Neal) of Rockingham, NC; Steve Brown (Jill) of Rockingham, NC; Jason Brown (Courtney) of Charlotte, NC; Joel Brown (Julie) of Stanley, NC; thirteen grandchildren: Jessica Norton, Michael Norton, Chris Bradley, Chase Bradley, Brooks Taylor, Amara Williams, Brennan Brown, Kaitlin Brown, Seth Brown, Grace Brown, Colin Brown, Noah Brown and Graham Brown and nine great grandchildren: Graham Bradley, McKinley Taylor, Remy Taylor, Zoey Williams, Colton Williams, Levi Brown, Gavin Brown, Natalie Brown and Gabriel Chappell.
Visitation will be held at Boyd Lake Church of Christ from 12pm-1pm, Monday, April 16, 2018 with the service to follow at 1pm. The Reverend Wesley Williams will be officiating.
