Edna G. Billingsley

Edna Gilmore Billingsley,96, of Hamlet passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at her home. She was born June 3, 1921 in Anson County, a daughter of the late Edgar Ray and Eula J. Gaddy Gilmore.

Mrs. Billingsley was a homemaker and was a member of the First Baptist Church. She loved keeping her yard immaculate, and was known for this around the neighborhood. She was an excellent deep sea fisher woman. She loved to fish with her husband and siblings. (AND SHE WAS GOOD AT IT!) She raised her two sons as her husband worked on the railroad and was gone a lot. (As most railroaders were). She was a very strong willed woman. (We called it hardheaded). We attributed her longevity to this as well as the Lord. She was the last Pinecroft mom of this generation.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, March 26, 2018 at 3:00 PM at the First Baptist Church in Hamlet with Rev. Allison Farrah officiating. Burial will follow at Richmond Co. Memorial Park.

Surviving, Sons, Alan Billingsley and wife Louise of Hamlet and Van Billingsley and wife Melissa, of Rockingham; 8 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; she out lived 8 Sisters and brothers. Felisha Bailey, Joanne Bailey and Dwanda Lockhart were her beloved care takers.

The family will receive friends Monday from 1-3 PM prior to the service at the church and at other times at her home 201 Beech St. Hamlet.
