Rev. Dorothy L. Cox

Rev. Dorothy Louise Cox,82, of Rockingham passed away Friday, July 3, 2020 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born May 30, 1938 in Scotland County, NC a daughter of the late William “Bill” and Louise Watson Guinn.
Rev. Dorothy Cox pastored the Ellerbe Pentecostal Holiness Church for 33 years. She was faithful servant of God. She had a heart and love for all. She lived the life she preached. She was a member of the First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Hamlet. She will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Cox, sister Bessie Jones and brothers, William Guinn, Jr., Earl Guinn, Eli Guinn and James Guinn.
A private funeral service will be held at First Pentecostal Holiness in Hamlet. Rev. Al McCormick and Rev. Johnny Cox will be officiating. A graveside service will be conducted Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. at Eastside Cemetery and to wear mask and social distancing required.
Surviving: A daughter, Christa Cox of Rockingham; Sons, Joseph R. Cox and wife Tammie, Gregory Cox and wife Gail, William G. Cox, Christopher C. Cox and wife Donna and Brent Cox and wife Amy all of Rockingham; 12 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Monday evening from 5-7 P.M. at First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Hamlet with limited number of people in the church at a time and to wear a mask and social distancing is required.
