Donavan Young

Donavan Edwin Young,45, of Rockingham, died Monday, December 17, 2018 at Richmond Co. Hospice. He was born February 7, 1973 in Stuart, VA a son of David Al and Linda Belton Young.

Donavan was a devout Christian who shared the word of God with everyone he met. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother and friend. He was graduate of Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA with a Bachelor’s in Psychology & Criminal Justice. Donavan spent his entire adult career dedicated to serving as a law enforcement officer, detective and great leader for the Rockingham Police Department, the Richmond County Sheriffs Department, the Asheboro Police Department and High Point Police Department.

A memorial service will be conducted Saturday, December 22, 2018 at 3:30 PM at Second Baptist Church with Rev. Chris Hawks, Rev. Tim Lavinder and Rev. Ernie Walters officiating.

In addition to his parents, Donavan is survived by his wife, Alanna Blakley Young; daughters, Lydia and Piper Young of the home; brother, Chris (Laura) Young of Hope Mills; brothers-in-law, Chad Blakley and Larry Bailey of Reidsville; niece, Julianna Young of Rockingham; nephews, Steven and Bradley Young of Hope Mills; grandmother, Vivian Belton of Rockingham; grandfather Curtis Young of Stuart, VA.
Donavan was preceded in death by grandfather, Jack Belton; grandmother, Lena Young; father & mother-in-law, John and Tina Blakley.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:00-3:30 PM prior the service at the church and at other times his home.
