Della Covington

It is with profound sadness, we announce the passing of Della Mae Covington. She passed away at her home in Wallace, NC on July 1, 2022. Della was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend. She was loved by everyone who knew her and will be greatly missed.

Della was preceded in death by her loving husband, James Archie Covington “Buddy” and brother Pete Brigman. She is survived by her great grandchild; Landon Phagan; son Robert Covington and Greg Firestone of the home; daughter Vicky Dawkins; grandchildren Brandon Dawkins, Brandy and Adam Phagan, Devin Roller; and sister Doris (Bobby) Grooms.

Della was born on April 28, 1938 and resided in Roberdel the majority of her life. She retired after 40 years of service from Richmond Senior High where she was known as the “Slushy Lady”. She was the Raiders biggest fan and never missed a game! She was also a member of Sweet Haven Church.

A private graveside service will be held at North Cemetery Extension. Visitation will be held Saturday, July 9th at 1pm at 320 James Ave. Hamlet at the home of Brandy and Adam Phagan.
