Clyde Joseph Young Jr., 76, of Hamlet, passed on to his heavenly home on Friday, May 1, 2021, in his home surrounded with love and family. Clyde was born in Glascow, Kentucky on September 1st, 1944, to the late Katherine White and Clyde Joseph Young.
He was preceded in death by his brother J.C. Williams, and a son, Clyde (Torsten) Young.
Clyde was raised in Greensboro, NC until he enlisted in the army and was soon relocated to Mainz, Germany, where he met Karin. He served as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division. Following his honorable discharge, they settled in Hamlet, where Clyde began his career at CSX Corporation as an electrician. After his retirement from CSX, Clyde enjoyed spending his time golfing and fishing with old friends and bringing joy in any way he could to those around him. His authentic spirit and selfless nature was transparent to everyone he crossed paths with. Clyde was a member of First Baptist Church in Hamlet and also served as a mason at the Masonic Lodge.
A service will be held at First Baptist Church in Hamlet on Friday, May 7th at 11:00 A.M. with Dr. Allison Farrah officiating.
Surviving; his wife Karin Young; two sisters, Patricia Crouse and Cookie Barber; three daughters, Sandra Jenkins, Melissa (Mike) Maree, and Jody Young; five grandchildren Brandon (Taylor) Armstrong, Ryan Pope, Krista Todd, Blair Armstrong, Kara Riley Simmons and four great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 10-11:00 A.M. prior to the service at the church.
