Mr. William Charles Rhyne, 63, of Ellerbe passed away Monday, December 24, 2018 at his home. He was born May 27, 1955 in Richmond County, son of Hazel Lovin Rhyne and the late Norman Theodore Rhyne.
Charles was a member of First Baptist Church in Ellerbe, where he had been a Deacon, sang in the choir, and helped with Operation Christmas Child. He was a Conductor, retired from CSX Railroad. Charles enjoyed many things in life, working in his garden, watching historical programs, reading, hunting for Indian artifacts, and going on trips, especially international trips. He, particularly, enjoyed his trip to Eygpt. He liked to pay attention to the weather and his rain gauges, and watching the birds.
Services were conducted 3:00 pm Thursday, December 27th at First Baptist Church in Ellerbe with Rev. Jim Brown officiating. The family saw friends one hour prior to the service at the church and other times at the home.
Charles is survived by his wife, Jannie Wicker Rhyne; three sons, Daniel (Nikki) Rhyne of New Bern, Matthew (Jennifer) Rhyne of Ellerbe, and Stephen (Amanda) Rhyne of Boone; grandchildren, McKinley Gardner, Tatum Rhyne, Jacob Rhyne, Parker Rhyne, Sadie Rhyne, Titus Rhyne, Noah Rhyne, Edy Rhyne, Eli Rhyne, and Dillon Rhyne; siblings, Judy Cloninger of Ellerbe, Linda Gunsallus of Foxfire, and Mark Rhyne of Ellerbe. Charles was preceded in death by his father, Norman Theodore Rhyne.
