Charles Alvin Lewis, 82, of Rockingham passed away on Sunday, November 18, 2018.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 21st at Roberdel Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Dennis officiating. Burial will follow at Richmond County Memorial Park.
Born May 14, 1936 in Pahokee, Florida he was a son of the late Alvin and Georgia Lewis and was preceded in death by a sister, Bobbie Gibson.
Mr. Lewis was a US Navy Veteran, retired from CSX Railroad, worked part-time with the FirstHealth Fitness Center in Rockingham, was a member of Roberdel Baptist Church where he was a Deacon, Sunday School Director, Trustee, and a Sunday School Teacher.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Selma Gardner Lewis of Rockingham, one daughter, Sharon L. Frye (Franklin) of Rockingham, two sons, Jay Lewis (Stacy) of Gastonia and Ray Lewis (Tammy) of Havelock, two sisters, Gladys Loftus of Rockingham and Grace Martin of Florida, one brother, Freddie Lewis of Coral Gables, FL, two grandchildren, Kandace Frye of Rockingham and Kristin Dakota Lewis of Cullowhee.
The family will be receiving friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the church.
