Chandler JamesJune 14, 1925 ~ December 18, 2017 (age 92)
Chandler Carthell James of Charlotte, NC passed away on Monday, December 18, 2017 at the Homestead Hospice Care of Haywood County. Born on June 14, 1925, in Fort Mill, SC to Ciscero and Louise James Tally, he moved multiple times throughout his adult life.
Chandler, also known as Buddy James in his entertaining days, was a talented musician who loved writing songs about his time in the service and honoring his country.
He began the family business, Electrical Apparatus Machine Co in 1974, which two of his sons still run and operate. In addition, Chandler owned and operated numerous hotel properties in Myrtle Beach, SC.
Chandler served his country bravely as a member of the US Navy in the Pacific Ocean theatre of World War II and served on the USS Piedmont, USS Intrepid and USS Altair. Chandler would say his greatest achievements are his children.
He is predeceased by his parents; his sisters: Betty, Narvis, Lula, Lola, and granddaughters: Tonya James and Lauren James.
He is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Sharon; sons: Bill (Linda), Alan (Rusty), Doug (Janice), Donnie (Dana); daughters: Glenn (Ron), Donna (Billy), Michele (David) and Jenny (Eric); grandchildren: Nolan (Kim), David, Brian, Lindsey (Ricky), Robbie, Chad, Matthew, Christie, Megan and Jamie; great grandchildren: Malachi, Lilly, London and Lydia.
A celebration of life service will be held 1:00 pm Friday, December 22nd at Watson King Funeral Home, 306 East Franklin Street, Rockingham, NC 28379 with visitation starting at 12:00 pm and interment following at Richmond Memorial Park.
