Betty Ghant Roberts (79) 3.30.1942 - 6.27.2021
Betty was born in Richmond County and raised in East Rockingham.
She and her husband raised their two children in Fayetteville NC while they both worked
full-time in the same small finance office. They moved back to Hamlet in 1979 and lived there
for the rest of their lives.
Betty was a quiet person who loved to read, watch football and SEC College Softball on TV and sit in the sunshine. Her second favorite place was an oceanfront balcony in Surfside Beach SC. Though she appeared bashful and quiet she was actually very witty and hilarious with those who knew her best.
She was a wife, a mother, a sister, a mother-in-law and the very best Granny and BooBoo.
Betty said goodbye to this life this past Sunday, right before noon. With the sun shining through the window and her daughter(me) by her side she took her last breath.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Bob Roberts and survived by her daughter, Lee Ann Middleton and son-in-law Joe of Charlotte, her son Troy Roberts of Hamlet, her grandson Jordan Middleton of Charlotte and her sister Shelby Sherrill of Rockingham.
Her family requests memorials be made in her name to either Community Home Care and Hospice at communityhch.org or Hospice and Palliative Care Charlotte Region (HPCCR.org) or by mail to HPCCR, P O Box 470408 Charlotte NC 28247.
