Mrs. Berdell Alexander Christie, 87, of Rockingham passed away Monday, April 10, 2017 at First Health Richmond Memorial Hospital. She was born March 13, 1930 in Sylva, NC, a daughter of the late Walter and Alice Alexander.

Mrs. Christie was a homemaker and a member of Temple Baptist Church. She was a prayer warrior and led prayer groups in her home for many years. They will be remembered by singing in churches and special events in the area. She was involved for a number of years with REACT and assisted with emergency situations.

Services were conducted 2:00 pm Thursday, April 13, 2017 at Temple Baptist Church in Rockingham with Rev. Joey Byrd officiating and interment following at Richmond Memorial Park. The family had visitation to see friends Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 pm at Watson – King Funeral Home in Rockingham.


Mrs. Christie is survived by her son Mark Christie and wife Renee’ of Lexington; grandchildren, Ryan David Christie and wife Kelsey of Birmingham, AL and Tiffany Joy Reynolds and husband Justin of New Bern, Rafael Stanley Christie of Rockingham and Charlie Barnum of Rockingham; one great grandson, Jamison Reynolds; a daughter in law, Brenda Christie of Rockingham; and special nieces and nephew, Sharon Chapman and husband Robert, Jerry McClure and wife Tonna, and Peggy Hyatt.

Mrs. Christie was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Christie in 2006, and a son, Ronald Stanley Christie in 2014, and siblings, Cumi McClure, Mae Smith, Jess Brown, Charlie brown, Florence Howell, Lonnie Harris, and Jim Brown.
