Barbara Greer Harrill, 93, of Rockingham passed away Monday, January 9, 2023. She was born in Kershaw County, South Carolina.
Mrs. Harrill was a retired educator having worked at Richmond Technical Institute and Richmond Senior High School. She earned her degree at Pembroke University graduating first in her class, all while having three children at home. She obtained her Master’s Degree from N.C. State University. Bobbie was a member of the First Baptist Church in Rockingham where she and her husband were married in 1950. They were six days away from their 73rd wedding anniversary.
Bobbie and Charlie traveled extensively all over the world. It was Mom’s dream come true. She was called Bobbie, but her favorite name was “Nanny” or “Nana”, until she became “Great Nana”.
A memorial service will be conducted Thursday, January 12, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Jack Lee officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
Bobbie’s surviving family include Charles Palmer Harrill; Kathy McCants (Glenn) and Teresa Scism (Bryant); Matt McCaskill (Jessica), Trey McCants (Shea), Chet McCaskill, Adam McCaskill (Maggie), Blair Adams(Collin), Kirby Smith, David Scism (Heather), Mark McCaskill and Helen Greer.
Great grandchildren, Drew, Katelynn, Mac, Knox, Rory, Nolan, Brooke, Hailey, Zoe and Henry along with many nieces, nephews and friends who became family.
Bobbie’s daughter, Susan, and grandson, Drew, were waiting with Jesus as He welcomed her Home. We hope one day, you will all be their too, saved by God’s amazing grace, through faith in Jesus Christ.
Bobbie’s family will be forever grateful to Debra Sturdivant and the Richmond County Hospice Haven for being the hands and feet of Jesus as they cared for her.
