Mr. Austin Dillehay, 96, of Hamlet passed away Tuesday, June 26th at FirstHealth Hospice House in Pinehurst. He was born September 9, 1921 in Orange County, son of the late Henry and Effie Cole Dillehay.

Mr. Dillehay was the owner of Austin’s Auto Repair in Hamlet for many years. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Mr. Dillehay was a veteran, serving in the U. S. Army during World War II.

The family had a time to gather and share memories Monday evening, July 2nd, from 6 to 8 pm at Watson –King Funeral Home in Hamlet and other times at the home.

Mr. Dillehay is survived by four grandchildren, Mike Booker of Atlanta, Chris Booker of Waxhaw, Jackie Booker of Atlanta, and Marc Bowen of Hamlet; four great grandchildren, Austin Booker, Josh Booker, Taylor Whitley, and Christopher Whitley; and a nephew, Jimmy Crane of Ridgeway, SC. Mr. Dillehay was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Dillehay; and two daughters, Anne Dillehay Booker and Susan Dillehay Bowen.
