Tribute

Ashlar Myers Waddell passed away Friday, April 30, 2021. He was born on July 15, 1930 in Montgomery County to the late Ashlar McManaway Waddell And Gertrude Overton Waddell. He was married to the late Earline Gibson Waddell and preceded in death by his daughter, Lynn Waddell Souder and his sister, Henrietta Waddell Allen of Concord, NC.

Myers was a farmer who loved being on the land, loved to laugh and always wore a hat. Mr. Waddell was the treasurer at Farm Bureau since 1978 and was elected to Soil & Water Conversation Committee. He also served over 30 years on the USDA Agricultural Stabilization & Conservation Committee. He was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church, Ledbetter Men’s Bible Class, Tuesday Morning Bible Study, and United Methodist Men.

A graveside service will be conducted Thursday, May 6, 2021 at Eastside Cemetery at 1:00 P.M. with Rev. Allen Bingham officiating.

He is survived by his daughter, Myra Waddell of Charlotte, NC; Grandsons Myers Souder of Ft. Hood, TX and Luke Souder of Clearwater, FL, a son-in-law Ralph Souder and wife Brenda of Rockingham, NC and several nephews, Walter Allen and his partner Marc Mosser of Atlanta, GA, Bert Lampley and his wife Jan of Charlottle,NC, Perry and his wife Jennifer of Apex, NC, Bryan Allen and his wife Della of Pittsboro, NC, and Scott Allen and his wife Karen of Mt. Pleasant, NC and several great nieces and nephews, brother-in-law, Paul Gibson(Anne) of Charlotte, NC, nephews Keith Gibson(Lori) of Las Vegas, NV, Mark Gibson(Linda) of Wendell, NC, Donald Scott(Amy) of Knoxville, TN, and Edward(Carina) Scott of Knoxville, TN and a niece Darlene Payne of Virginia Beach, VA.
