Annie Elizabeth "Libby" Thompson

Annie Elizabeth “Libby” Thompson, age 89, of Rockingham, NC, passed away Thursday Morning, October 6th, 2022 at Richmond Co. Hospice Haven surrounded by her loving family. Libby was a Richmond County native, born June 21, 1933. She was the daughter of the late William E. and Catherine Blue McDonald. Libby was preceded in death by beloved husband, Jack Thompson and daughters Sharon Wilson, and Lori Ann Thompson.
Libby is survived by her children Nicky Thompson and wife Debbie of Rockingham, NC, Steve Thompson and wife Karen, also of Rockingham, NC, Diane Lucas and husband Del of Charlotte, NC; sister Sarah Covington of Ellerbe, NC; grandchildren Brandon Wilson and wife Susan, Matthew Wilson and wife Stephanie, Tiffany Hayne and husband Jeff, Danielle Lucas, Jan Hawkins and husband Chris, Holly Page, Jonathan Thompson and wife Lauren and Michael Lucas and wife Taylor great-grandchildren Jack Hawkins, Mina Hayne, Reese Hayne, Ava Eubanks, Dawson Wilson, MacKenzie Wilson, Felicity Wilson, Malachi Wilson; Great great grandchild, Conner Wilson.
Libby lived a long and fulfilling life loving her family. Libby loved playing the piano and gospel music. She was the organist and pianist for several churches as a testament to her devotion and passion for both her faith and music. Libby was a member of McDonald Baptist Church. She loved animals and feeding the birds and wildlife.
The funeral service will take place Monday, October 10th, 2022, 2:00 p.m. at McDonald Baptist Church in Rockingham, NC. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Rev. Jimmy Branton and Rev. Robert Tyson officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 -1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church and at other times at the home of Nicky and Debbie Thompson, 1349 US Hwy. #1 N, Rockingham, NC 28379.
