Doris Alden Smith,98, of Foxhollow Retirement Home in Pinehurst, NC, passed away peaceful Monday, August 30, 2021 at FirstHealth Hospice House.
Doris was one of eight daughters born to Amasa Crawford and Lilia Campbell Alden of Marston, NC, where she grew up, married and lived for most of her life. She was married to Ralph Felton Smith, Sr. and worked for many years as postmaster of the Marston Post Office.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband Ralph, her son, Felton Smith, Jr., her daughter, Doris Ann Smith Moon and three sisters Marguerite Rivers, Betty Jo Foley and Peggy Taylor.
She is survived by her son-in-law Jim Moon of Pinehurst; One grandson, Mark Moon and wife Danielle of Maryland; Two great-grandsons, Aidan and Colin Moon of Maryland; Four sisters, Priscilla Lewis of Marston, Pasty Smith of Charlotte, Jeannie Baldwin of Rockingham and Elsie Edmunds of Hamlet.
A funeral service will be conducted Thursday, September 2, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at Watson-King Funeral Home Chapel in Hamlet with Rev. Jim Ritter officiating. Entombment will be at Richmond Co. Memorial Park Mausoleum.
