Willard Watson, Jr., 78, of Rockingham passed away on Monday, May 29th 2017.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 4th at the First Baptist Church of Rockingham where he was a member. Burial will follow at Richmond County Memorial Park.
Born July 4, 1938 in Scotland County he was a son of the late Willard and Lillie Sessoms Watson and husband of the late Patricia Brooks Watson. He was preceded in death by his son, Tilden Lee Watson, two sisters, Anna Cribb and Mildred Bennett, two brothers, Frank and James Watson.
Mr. Watson was the owner of Watson’s Gulf and Wrecker Service since 1969, worked for the Rockingham Fire Department from 1967 to 1975, and was an avid Hunter.
He is survived by three daughters, Michaelle Goforth (Bill) of Madison, AL, Dawn Roberts (Greg) of Holly Springs, and Patty Safrit (John) of Mebane, two sons, Dale LaRue Bailey (Terry) of Carrboro and Russell Hollis Watson (Amanda) of Rockingham, two sisters, May Harvey of Rockingham and Pomilee Barrow of Raeford, ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
The family will be receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday at Watson-King Funeral Home in Rockingham.
Memorials may be made to the International Towing and Recovery Museum, 3315 Broad Street, Chattanooga, TN 37408.
