Mr. Wesley Clark Long, 70, passed away Wednesday,  July 5, 2017 at the Hermitage Retirement Center in Rockingham.  He was born May 19, 1947 in Richmond County.  He was the son of the late Tom Long and Laura West Patterson.

Wes was retired from CSX Railroad, where he was a conductor for 32 years. 

Services were conducted graveside 2:00 pm Sunday,  July 9th at Eastside cemetery in Rockingham with Rev. Joey Byrd officiating.  The family received friends Saturday evening from 6 to 8 pm at Watson – King Funeral Home in Rockingham. 
 
Wes is survived by a daughter, Kelly Long Walker and husband Jason of Rockingham; two granddaughters, Lindsay and Allison Walker;  sisters, Catherine Kinler of Hammond, Louisiana; Sallie Taylor of Deep Run and Jennifer Holder of Rockingham; a number of cousins; and long-time friend and neighbor, Paul Swails.   Mr. Long was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Easley Long in 1994.
 
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Community Home Care and Hospice, 1791 E. Broad Ave., Rockingham,  NC  28379.
