Mr. Shirley R. Boyette, 100, of Hamlet, died Friday, February 17, 2017 at Richmond Co. Hospice Haven. He was born December 8, 1916 in Richmond County, a son of the late J.J. and Ida Belle Wooten Boyette.

Mr. Boyette retired from CSX Railroad with 42 years of service. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Hamlet Masonic Lodge #532.

He proceeded in death by his first wife Louise Ashley Boyette, a grandson John Charles Nicholson, Jr., three brothers and a sister.

A memorial service will be Monday, February 20, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Deb Wilkins officiating. Masonic Rites will follow.

Surviving, His wife of 38 years, Kate Bailey Boyette of Hamlet; Children, Randy Boyette and wife Jo of Huntsville, AL; Terri Nicholson and husband John of Sunset Beach and Steve Meacham of Rockingham. A brother, Harold Boyette of Jacksonville, FL; 4 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren

The family will receive friends from 10-11 A.M. Monday prior to the service at the church.
