Robert Bishop

November 20, 1934 ~ March 1, 2024 (age 89) 89 Years Old

Tribute

Robert William Bishop, 89, of Hamlet, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 1, 2024.
“Bob” was born in Peru, Indiana on November 20, 1934. He was the son of the late Robert Bishop Sr. and Esther Rozell Doud. After graduating from Hamlet High School in 1953, he enlisted in the Army Reserve and worked for CSX Railroad for 36 years.

He is survived by his beautiful wife, Bette Taylor Bishop; two children, Alison Parsons (John) and Bill
Bishop (Denise); five grandchildren, Meagan Parsons Miller (Justin), Marley Parsons Crouch (Russell),
Anna Bishop Charles (Zach), Samuel Bishop, and William Bishop; and eight great-grandchildren, Miles Miller, Maya Miller, Tali Miller, Lucy Crouch, Lila Crouch, Ellie Crouch, June Crouch, and Adaline Charles.

Bob was a handyman that could fix anything; he liked tinkering with all things mechanical. Bob loved
classic cars and was a proud owner of a self-customized 1957 black Chevrolet for many years. He was
most known around town for his 1967 Mustang Coupe. He enjoyed traveling with Bette; they had a
second home in Florida, which they frequented several months out of the year. His passion was his
family and making memories with them. He belonged to Fellowship United Methodist Church in Hamlet and was an active member of Masonic Lodge #532 as well as Shriner’s International. He was also a member of the American Legion and the VFW in Hamlet. Bob was a friend to many, and he will be sorely missed.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, March 4, 2024, at Richmond County Memorial Park. Rev. Robert Fletcher will officiate the ceremony.

In addition to flowers, the family has requested memorial donations be made to Fellowship United
Methodist Church in Hamlet. Online condolences can be made at www.watson-kingfuneralhome.com. Watson-King Funeral Home in Hamlet is assisting the Bishop Family.
