Anna Margaret Jones Singletary, 82, passed away on July 29, 2017 at Sardis Oaks in Charlotte after an extended illness. She was born February 26, 1935 in Sumter, SC, the only daughter of the late Ruby and Douglas Jones.

Margaret retired as a registered nurse after forty years of service in Moore, Richmond, Anson, and Scotland Counties. She was a devoted wife and mother and treasured the time she spent with her family. She enjoyed sports throughout her life, first as co-captain of her high school basketball team and later as an avid fan of golf, football, basketball, and baseball. Margaret was a devoted Duke fan, but broadened her support to UNC and State when her grandchildren attended college.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Grey Singletary, her parents, and four brothers.

She is survived by her children and spouses, Toby Singletary Sunstrom and husband Gary of Charlotte, Joseph Grey Singletary, Jr. and wife Janet of Pinebluff, Betty Singletary and friend Bob Birthisel of Charlotte; grandchildren, Corey Sunstrom and wife Stephanie of Charlotte, Meredith Sunstrom of Raleigh, Payton Singletary of Pinebluff, Owen Singletary of Pinebluff, and nieces and nephews.

At Margaret’s request, the burial and graveside service will be private.
