Kathy Dohr Benson

Kathy Dohr Benson,70, of Rockingham passed away Thursday, February 29, 2024 at Richmond Co. Hospice Haven. She was born May 12, 1953 in Richmond County, the only child of the late Ernest and Monnie Boone Dohr.

Kathy was a retired orthodontic assistant and worked many years for Dr. Michael Henry of Pinehurst. She enjoyed her career and formed many special relationships with her patients and coworkers. She loved nature and being outdoors. She cared deeply for animals, especially her cat, Charlie. She loved the beach where she and her best friend, Margaret, made many memories. The North Carolina mountains were also special to her. She had fond memories of going to Mount Mitchell with her mother and father. Kathy enjoyed reading all genres of books, but historical events and biographies were her favorites.

The family will greet friends to celebrate her life on Friday, March 8, 2024, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Watson-King Funeral Home in Rockingham. There will be a private ceremony held in May.
Surviving are her daughter, Lora Benson of Pinebluff, NC; her son, Gene Benson and wife Dawn of Murrells Inlet, SC and Grovetown, GA. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren: Brooke Swedman (Todd), Brett Benson, and Tyler Benson; and her beloved great grandchildren: Liam Swedman and Beckham Swedman. She was very proud of them. She had many wonderful and caring friends in her life who will miss her immensely.
