Julia Raymelle Wright,94, of Rockingham passed away Sunday, April 7, 2024 at her home. She was born August 30, 1929 in Montgomery County, a daughter of the late Holly G. and Corrina Soloman Dick.

Raymelle was a member of Cobb Memorial Baptist Church where she was a faithful member of the choir and an all female quartet until her later years. She was a member of the Dorcas Sunday School Class and served as Communion Steward. Mrs. Wright retired from the Textile Industry. She enjoyed cross stitching, crocheting and really a master at quilting. She loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. She had a special place in her heart for all animals and enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wright was also preceded in death by her husband Alton Wright, siblings Bill Dick, Lawrence Dick, Juanita Coble and O. W. Rorie and also her children Patricia Wright, Denise Wright, Holly Wright and Rovetta Ratliff.

A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Cobb Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Travis Conner and Rev. David Lee officiating. Burial will follow at Woodard-Wright Cemetery in Laurel Hill.

Survivors include her sons, Alton Thomas Wright, Jr. (Darlene) and David Randolph Wright (Beth); daughters, Donna Yvonne Franklin (Odell) and Barbara Annette Chavis (Jerry); son-in-law Kenneth Ratliff and daughter-in-law Susan Wright; thirteen grandchildren, thirty-one great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter.
The family would like to express their sincerest gratitude to her caregiver Ms. Megan Hope.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5-7 p.m. at Watson-King Funeral Home in Rockingham and at other times her home 155 Patterson St. Rockingham.
